Our story

I used to debrief in the shower.

That's where the name comes from. The rest of it comes from the shifts that came before.

After every night shift, I'd talk the whole thing out to my fiancé in the shower. Out loud. Everything I hadn't had time to feel for twelve hours, all of it coming out under the water. A debrief, nurse style.

I came to nursing as a second career. I started night shift in the ICU in December 2024, and I learned fast that night shift doesn't just make you tired. It changes how your whole body runs.

Then I couldn't go back

At some point, returning to nights stopped being an option for me. Stepping away gave me a different view of it. I started thinking about how much night shift takes out of the body, and about the nurses still carrying that weight every week.

On the unit, we have a protocol for everything. Sepsis. Falls. Handoff. There is no wellness protocol for the nurse who just badged out into full daylight and has to be asleep by 0900 to make it back for 1900.

Everything I found was either melatonin or a wellness label that's never met a nurse.

So I built the thing that should already exist.

What DEBRIEF is

DEBRIEF is a nurse-founded, melatonin-free liquid dietary supplement created for the space between night shift and sleep. It's built around 3 g of glycine, the amount evaluated in published human research, with lemon balm, L-theanine, magnesium, and chamomile, and a natural tart-cherry flavor with no melatonin in it.

It's a lightly carbonated 12 fl oz can. One can, 30–60 minutes before bed, after your shift.

Where we are

Formula locked. Pilot next. I'm choosing the pilot manufacturer and lining up the funding now. When the first cans are ready, Founding Shift members hear first. I'm not going to promise you a date I can't keep.

I'm building this alongside my own nursing practice and my doctoral studies as a nurse practitioner student, so I'm keeping it honest and moving step by step.
